The Chairman of the National People's Assembly (APN) Mr. Abdelaziz Ziari, was received, on January 20, 2010, by the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Nguyen Minh Triet, to whom he conveyed greetings from President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelaziz Bouteflika.
At the hearing, attended by Mr. Cherif Chikhi, Ambassador of Algeria to Vietnam, Mr. Ziari told the Head of the Vietnamese State, the willingness of President Bouteflika to "work to strengthen ties of historic friendship and cooperation relations between both countries. He also recalled the "positive developments of the situation in Algeria in recent years."
For his part, President Triet asked Mr. Ziari to convey his "best wishes" to President Bouteflika, reiterating, as well, thanks to the Algerian people for their support by Algeria to Vietnam during the war for independence. He also stressed the particular interest granted by the Vietnam friendship with Algeria.
In Hanoi, Mr. Ziari also met Mr.Nguyen Phu Trong, Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam, Mr. Nguyen Sinh Hung, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister and Mr. Nguyen Hong Quan (Minister of Construction), Co-Chairman of the Algerian-Vietnamese Joint Commission. He also visited the mausoleum of Ho Chi Minh, the People’s Committee of Hanoi, the Temple of Literature and the University of Medicine.
Ambassador Chikhi accompanied Mr. Ziari during all these meetings and visits.
