Dear Friends
I would like to welcome and thank all of you for accepting to join, this evening, the official ceremony celebrating the 54th Anniversary of the Algerian Revolution, November 1st, 1954.
I would like to thank particularly His Excellency Mr. Đào Việt Trung for his attendance to the ceremony as representative of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Government.
As you know, November the first, 1954 marked the starting of a long process of armed struggle which allowed the Algerian people – seven years later - to regain its freedom and independence. This date is commemorated by the Algerian people with enthusiasm, in the assertion of his attachment to peace with a legitimate aspiration for progress, development and prosperity.
The celebration – here in Vietnam - gives me the opportunity to express my deep appreciation of the excellent level reached by the friendship and cooperation relations between Algeria and Vietnam. These ties are ancient and sincere. Our two countries maintained their relations characterized by a permanent political dialogue, multiform solidarity and rich co-operation.
The forums which were held a few months ago in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, with the presence of Algerian and Vietnamese businessmen and the regular attendance of Vietnam to the international fair of Algiers and to many specialized exhibitions as well had largely contributed to create a new dynamics in the bilateral exchanges.
More recently, on June, in Hanoi, the 8th session of the Joint Committee of Algeria- Vietnam economic co-operation - in addition to the reinforcement of the traditional co-operation in the energy, construction, agriculture, fishing and trade sectors - had identified new crenels of co-operation in order to rise the bilateral relations to a new high level and opened prospects for a promising co-operation.

Before ending, I would like to invite you to carry a toast
- to the health of the leaders of the two countries:
- His Excellency Mr. Nguyen Minh Triet President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam
- His Excellency Mr. Abdelaziz BOUTEFLIKA President of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria
- to progress for the prosperity of the Algerian and Vietnamese people
- to your Health, you all present in this room.
